A performance model that Rob created to continue his exploration into the world of performance surfing with his new shape, the Groove.
A throwback to Rob's performance days, the Machado Groove Fin Set is a performance model created for Rob's continued exploration into the world of performance surfing. This is the highest performing keel model Rob has ever designed.
Rob took special care with the construction of these fins, wanting to create a technically progressive flexibility throughout the model. Due to the multiple layers of carbon in combination with the bamboo core, the leading edge is stiffer while the trailing edge is more flexible. The progressive flex of this construction delivers bounce and bounce in every turn, while maintaining the immediate response and momentum needed for high-performance surfing.
This fin set comes as a set of 5 fins because although Rob originally designed the Groove as a thruster, he quickly became hooked on the Quad configuration. It is offered in a Medium/Large size as it is larger than a typical Medium but smaller than a typical Large.
Single guide variants are compatible with the Futures keel system.
wave type
The Machado Groove Fin Set is a throwback to Rob's performance days and is a five-fin model for high-performance surfing. This set of fins is lively and responsive in strong, hollow waves from waist height to overhead. The construction's flexible progression delivers bounce and liveliness in every turn, while maintaining the immediate response and steering needed for high-performance surfing.
Keel model
Although this is a vertical (pivot) model, it still has Rob's hybrid DNA with an elongated base. Rob took special care with the construction of this fin, wanting to create a technically progressive flexibility throughout the model. Due to the multiple layers of carbon in combination with the bamboo core, the leading edge is stiffer while the trailing edge is more flexible. The progressive flex of this construction delivers bounce and bounce in every turn, while maintaining the immediate response and momentum needed for high-performance surfing.
